PART 1) HOW TO JOIN THE LIST SERVE

If you don't have a yahoo account already, go to Part II which is a step by step guide to creating a yahoo account and joining the SSA listserve

1)     Step One: go to www.yahoo.com

2)     On the left side of the screen, there should be a big red "Yahoo" sign. Keep your eyes on that side of the page and look downward. There is going to be a column of dark blue words. The words say things like: Answers, Autos etc. The sixth word will say: "Groups". Click that word.

3)     The next screen will have a big yellow button. You can't miss it. Its towards the center of the page. The button will say "Search". Next to that button will be a white box. Go to that white box and type inside "New York state society on aging" LEAVE NO SPACES BETWEEN THE WORDS. It should look like this:  newyorkstatesocietyonaging . After you finish typing  click the yellow search button.

4)      You will get one result. That is our list serve. Click that result and you will be taken to our Listserve home page. There will be a big blue button on the extreme right of the page that says "Join this Group" Click that button

5)     When you click the button you will be redirected to a page where you will have to sign into your yahoo account. Once you sign into your yahoo account, you will be redirected to another page, which gives you the option to join the group.

6)     On the Joining page scroll down, select "individual email" choice and then fill in that secret code word they give you. Then click join.

Part: II

HOW TO GET A YAHOO ACCOUNT & JOIN THE LIST SERVE

3)      On that sign up page you will be asked to type in your full name, you date of birth and other information in the white spaces. NOTE* when it comes time to create a "yahooID" you may have to add some numbers to your name since most " English names" have already been used as yahoo ID's by other people who may share your name.  Yahoo will give you suggestions for new Yahoo ID  names, if the name you chose is already taken. At the end of the page, you will have to enter the code and check the box that says you agree to terms and services. Then you click the big yellow button below it.

4)     Once you are signed up, you will be redirected to a page that says "Yahoo Mail" in the top left corner. Look towards the top corner on the right side of the page. In small blue letters there will be something saying "My Yahoo". Click that. If you are using internet explorer another window will pop open. If you are using firefox another tab will open

5)      The new window or tab will have "My Yahoo" on the top left corner of the page. Keep your eyes on the left side and look down directly below that "My Yahoo" sign. There will be a dark blue box that will say "my main page". Directly below that is a lighter blue list of yahoo services. The 6^th service down will say "Groups". Click that option.

6)      The next screen will have a big yellow button. You can't miss it. It is towards the middle of the page. The button will say "Search". Next to that button will be a white box. Click that box and type inside "new york state society on aging" LEAVE NO SPACES BETWEEN THE WORDS. It should look like this:    newyorkstatesocietyonaging . After you type that in click that "Search" button.

7)     You will get one result. That is our list serve. Click that result and you will be taken to our Listserve home page. There will be a big blue button on the extreme right of the page that says "Join this Group" Click that button. Scroll down, select "individual email" choice and then fill in that secret code word they give you. Then click join.
