Volunteer with the Preservation Foundation

The rewards of volunteering are many, but none is as great as the knowledge that you can and do make a positive difference in the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation and in our community. Whether you share your time, skills or talents, you are an integral part of our commitment to caring for the heritage of Saratoga Springs. Click here to join our volunteers. We understand that people have a variety of commitments and we encourage you to set your own schedule. You may decide to volunteer an hour or two a week, once a month or just for an event! No matter how much time you give, you will be making a difference!

Our volunteers contribute their precious time for a variety of reasons.

  • It makes you feel great about yourself and is a way to take pride in your city
  • It is an opportunity to network with professionals and meet new friends in the community who share common interests
  • A great way to develop your leadership abilities and learn new skills

Our volunteers receive:

  • Free or reduced tickets to our events
  • An opportunity for reduced membership rates
  • 10% off to Hoofing It, our book of 8 historic walking tours of Saratoga Springs
  • An invitation to a summer garden party reception

Ways you can help us:

Committees and events:

Candlelight House Tour– We need volunteers for the organizing committees, house captains and home guides to facilitate traffic. Company teams may be organized by house to make it a fun experience for all.

Other:

Historian/Researcher -- Research and document the history of buildings in Saratoga Springs and the surrounding communities.  No experience necessary, we will train you.  A love of history, and good writing skills are a plus!

Speakers Bureau- Help us in our education mission. Present lectures on architectural styles, architectural history, historic preservation generally, to community and service groups or in the classroom.   We will provide lecture outlines and powerpoint/slide materials for you.

Become Involved with Renovation Work –teams of volunteers are needed occassionally to provide hands-on assistance in renovation work.
