LUPUS AWARENESS MONTH
IN NEW YORK STATE

On Tuesday, May 5, 2009 all 7 Lupus Agencies
of New York State came together in Albany, NY
and sponsored the first ever Lupus Awareness
Day in the Legislative Office Building (LOB) 3rd
floor terrace. Lupus Legislative Champions
Assemblywoman RoAnn Destito, Senator Joe Griffo,
and Senator Diane Savino gave remarks.
Other exhibitors included Scleroderma Foundation,
National Kidney Foundation, Sjogren's Syndrome
Foundation, AARDA, Arthritis Foundation, and
International Institute of Human Empowerment.
We thank the legislators and their staff,
organizers, exhibitors, lupus leaders, advocates,
volunteers, and speakers for their
support in this initiative and look forward
to the 2nd Annual Awareness Day on May 4, 2010!

LUPUS RESEARCH DONATION

Lupus Foundation of Mid and Northern
New York Representatives attended the Lupus
Research Institute's Annual Scientific Dinner
and presented our largest annual research
donation ever for $22,000 on October 6, 2008
at the Yale Club in New York. We are proud
to say that we have now donated $106,500
in 7 years to the LRI and $158,000 since 1990
to lupus research overall. Pictured above

LUPUS AWARENESS AT THE 2008 NY STATE FAIR

BUTTERFLY OF HOPE APPRECIATION AWARD
Congressman CW Bill Young receiving his Appreciation Award
from Lupus Foundation of Mid and Northern New York
Advocates Sandi Frear and Kathleen Arntsen on May 8, 2008 in
his Washington, DC Congressional office. Congressman Young
has been a longtime champion of the lupus cause
and American health care issues.

ARNTSEN RECEIVES NATIONAL RECOGNITION
