| MECA PROGRAMS AND EVENTS
The Milton Early Childhood Alliance (MECA) offers a number of programs and services for families with young children and for the early care and education programs in our community:
PARENT EDUCATION AND FAMILY PROGRAMS MECA offers a wide variety of parent education and support programs throughout the year. Each year we offer workshops on a variety of topics, family events for parents and children together, and parenting series for parents who can make a longer term commitment to an ongoing program.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Local early care and education professionals can attend a variety of MECA sponsored workshops and area conferences, receive financial assistance to attend college courses, and receive on-site consultation from specialists.
CHILD DEVELOPMENT RESOURCE CENTER MECA's Child Development Resource Center contains a wide variety of educational materials available to local providers on loan for use in Milton early childhood programs, and is located at the MECA office. Come visit, browse and borrow!
PROGRAM QUALITY ENHANCEMENT MECA provides support to local early care and education programs as they pursue national accreditation. With support from MECA, local center-based programs and family child care providers have, or are pursuing accreditation, a self-study process which ensures that children are receiving the highest quality care and education.
CHILDREN'S LEARNING FAIR MECA sponsored its fourth Children's Learning Fair in February 2008. More than 350 children and parents explored and played in a giant environment that was set up in the Cunningham/Collicot elementary school gymnasium. Learning Centers were hosted by local early care and education programs and numerous community resources were on hand to provide information to parents! Our next fair will be held in 2010!
