Macomb County Early Learning Communities
 
 
A new initiative facilitated by the United Way provides neighborhood hubs beginning at our Warren location and at Sacred Heart Education Center in Roseville.  A varity of programs and services for child care providers are available including:
  • Training for child care licensing and professional development in the local communities
  • Training targeted for registered aides, relative providers, and family, friend and neighbor caregivers.
  • In home coaching and mentorig by Early Childhood Professionals.
  • Lending library of books and educational materials for in-home providers to use in their child care.
  • Incentives for completing trainings.

Parent/Child (Interactive Learning) Playgroups 
for children newborn- age 4 and their parents
 
  • Open to all Wayne and Macomb County families
  • Parent and child participate together in fun activities that promote healthy development.
  • Parents and children communicate positively.
  • Children are given opportunities to play with other children in a safe, well-supervised learning environment.
  • Parents enjoy learning and model activities and behavior for their children.
  • Parents receive information on 40 developmental ASSETS from the Search Institute.

Early Literacy Home Visits

A child development specialist visits and shares with parents information on:
  • Child growth and development

Youth Mentoring Project

The mentoring project is a unique program where local high school volunteers are trained in child development and become a big brother or sister to a child 4 to 6 years old.  The high school volunteers read, play, and participate in art and craft activities with their little brother or sister.
