Happy New Year!

We hope that you and your families enjoyed the holidays and we wish you all the best in 2009.

Our main goal like always is to ensure that we are able to maintain our doors open in order to continue to assist the needy families in the communities we serve.  We were able to accomplish this and more through the hard work and dedication of our KMFP Staff and Volunteers and through the ongoing generous support of all our donors in 2008.

We would like to inform you at this time that we will be taking part again this year in the Alan Shawn Feinstein 2009 12th Annual $1 Million Giveaway To Fight Hunger.  For the twelfth straight year, Alan Shawn Feinstein will divide $1 million among hunger fighting agencies nationwide using it to help them raise funds during March and April 2009.  As we get closer to the date we will provide more information, in the meantime for more details about the foundation visit www.feinsteinfoundation.org

High Level 2008 Accomplishments:
  • 16 – Towns served
  • 1396 – Families served from Jan to Dec (Note: We served 156 families in October and 163 families in November. These are the largest number of families served since the founding of the pantry in 1983)
  • 25 – Food Stamp Preliminary Applications submitted on behalf of applicant
  • 25+ – Referrals for specific assistance
  • 50+ – Children received school supplies
  • 120 – Turkeys (plus a few hams) distributed (Thanksgiving and Christmas).  The holiday food was received from the Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties and through many donations.
  • 80+ – Families received coats, children clothes and other items via donations we received.
  • 227 – Children sponsored for Christmas gifts through the generosity of many individuals, businesses, churches and organizations
  • Raised $22,636.00 toward our New Building Project

I would like to say “Thank You” to our Associate Director, Marge Conway for doing such a great job again this year in coordinating the Christmas gifts for the children and to all the KMFP Volunteers that worked so hard along with Marge in distributing the gifts and holiday food on December 23rd.  A very special “Thank You” to all the individuals, businesses, churches and organizations that sponsored our client’s children.

  • We have partnered with Alliance Charities in order to raise additional funds.  Every time you search or shop on-line you can earn money that is donated to our organization. For more info How You Can Help .
  • Donations toward our new building continue to come in and we are so grateful.  2009 Appeal Letter and donation form will be mailed out later this month to past and potential supporters.  For more info New Building Project.
There are so many families that need our assistance now more than ever.  Please keep believing and supporting us so that we may continue to provide our services throughout 2009 and also continue to get a step closer to a new facility.  All of us at the KMFP are eternally grateful for all you do for us.
