Subject:  Training Material
I am the new Volunteer Administrator for InterAct Cleveland. I am looking for some guidance/help (either in ideas and/or examples of existing training materials) for the training of volunteers for community service (rather than in-house). Any and all help is appreciated. Contact me at tsacco@interactcleveland.org or 216-241-0230. Thanks!

Subject:  Grievance procedure for volunteers
I have an immediate need. Our organization has been going through personnel changes that have been a challenge to the volunteer program. We currently have no policy or procedure in place for processing volunteer grievances. I would appreciate some insight into what other organizations are doing to provide volunteers opportunity to dispute re-assignment of role or location.

Sherri, Not sure if you are still looking, but the Cleveland Food Bank had a posting a few weeks ago on Careerbuilder.com. --Sara

Subject:  Job Opportunities
I was recently laid off from Berea Children's Home & Family Services due to budget cuts. They have turned the volunteers over to their HR Department. I am very interested in knowing of any openings in Volunteer Administration which my fellow FVA Members may be aware. Thank you!

Subject:  looking to meet with someone with experience in a
I am new to the volunteer administration process and I am starting a volunteer program at a small, but growing private non-profit organization at PLAN of NEO. PLAN offers social work services/family advocacy, Cognitive Enhancment Therapy (CET), social-recreational opportunities, to their members who have varying mental illnesses. We already have a volunteer program for our members. My job is to birng in volunteers internally to help with office work, activities, etc. I am looking to meet with someone with experience in a smaller organization to get tips and ideas from.

Subject:  Background Checks
At University Hospital we background check all volunteers over 18. We have the ability to perform the fingerprinting electronically. If the volunteer has not lived in OH for 5 years we also perform an FBI check in addition to a BCI. The FBI prints are done in ink and completed in duplicate. For the photo ID badges we now take a digital photo when the volunteer attends orientation and send it to HR with their area. This saves a trip. If you have additional questions feel free to call me at 216-844-1504.

Subject:  Badges and Background Checks
As the Volunteer Coordinator at a secured facility, I curently conduct background checks on volunteers and interns. They are sent to Human Resources for their Photo ID Badges. I'll like to know how these procedures are handled at a larger organizations i.e. hospital. We are making revisionis and developing new plans for implementation in the new facility scheduled to open in 2009. Thank you.
