Cab Calloway 100 Exhibit:
"Hi De Ho Zoot-Suiter from Baltimore"

Christmas Day 2007 marked the 100th birthday of Baltimore’s own Cab Calloway, the renowned orchestra leader and singer whose career spanned the Harlem Renaissance, the swing era, bop and modern jazz, and rock and roll.

Cab Calloway is a great role model for Baltimore youth.  The musical education that Cab received at Frederick Douglass High School gave him a sound foundation. Along with the values received from his family and Cab’s talent, hard work and diligence, it led to his remarkable achievements.

His story is an important part of the cultural legacy of the Baltimore African American community, a legacy that all Baltimoreans, and especially African American children and youth, should know.

To celebrate his legacy and his many contributions, BLEWS with the generous support of our sponsors has brought to life the story of Cab. The exhibit, currently on tour in Baltimore, invites you stroll back through time. We are pleased to present a few of the pictures from the exhibit and encourage you to make plans to visit the exhibit and enjoy for yourself the Cab Calloway experience.
