| CSCNH Statement:
Community Services Council of NH (CSCNH) remains committed to the goal of working to end chronic homelessness in the State of New Hampshire. Due to a reallocation of state funding and other resources, CSCNH will no longer be providing general Information and Referral services through New Hampshire Help Line as of July 1, 2007. However, all homeless services including the Homeless Hotline, Unite to Help and HMIS programs will continue without interruption.
The Homeless Hotline will continue to operate during regular business hours (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday) just as it has in the past. New procedures will be implemented for managing after-hours calls that will improve the ability of staff to provide timely and effective responses. The Homeless Hotline will be staffed by a full-time Information & Referral Specialist and on-call staff who will also have remote access to the Homeless Hotline database to enhance their ability to provide services after hours.
All of the data from the New Hampshire Help Line database will be added to the NH-HMIS database to create a specialized Information and Referral service for homeless and housing needs. By coordinating the NH-HMIS database and the information from the Help Line database with the Homeless Hotline, Unite to Help and the other homeless programs we will improve our effectiveness in meeting the needs of people seeking services.
We believe the development of a specialized Information & Referral Service for Homeless Services offers an exciting opportunity for CSCNH and for the people of New Hampshire. With the Homeless Hotline using NH-HMIS we will be able to provide referrals for persons seeking homeless services throughout the state and utilize the same database services that federal and state-funded homeless service providers are mandated to use. The future of the Homeless Hotline includes the ability to create a centralized intake procedure which would enable persons experiencing homelessness to access services without the confusion of the current system. This is one of the major goals of the state’s 10 year Plan to End Homelessness.
