As City Clerk Miguel del Valle is widely known as an advocate for reform in the areas of education, health care, consumer protection and human services. For more than three decades, he has been a tireless and dedicated public servant for the people of Chicago and the state of Illinois. As City Clerk, del Valle strives to provide cost-effective, efficient and accessible services to the citizens of Chicago. Del Valle was sworn in as City Clerk on December 1, 2006 and became the first Latino elected to the office of City Clerk on February 27, 2007. Prior to his appointment, del Valle had served since 1987 as a full-time Illinois Senator representing the 2nd District on the near northwest side of Chicago
