Religious Education

The Baptismal Catechumenate Program, Adult Confirmation and Full Communion Formation Program

The Baptismal Catechumenate Program (RCIA) is an on-going program preparing individuals for full initiation into the Church at the Easter Vigil.  Adults seeking baptism are invited to participate in this program.  A formation program for adults seeking full communion in the Catholic Church welcomes participants who have already been baptized.  In addition to these programs, a formation program for adults wishing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation is also available.  Typically, these classes meet weekly at the parish hall.  Call the Religious Education Office, 982-3625 to schedule an interview.

Children in grades 4-8 may participate in this program.  They will have special age appropriate formation and catechesis.  Please contact the Religious Education Office, 982-3625 for more information.

These programs are part of the religious education program for the parish.  A team of volunteers work with parish staff members to present this part of our adult formation program.  Qualified parishioners are encouraged and welcomed to seek membership on the team by calling 982-3625.

Liturgy of the Word for Children Ages Three and Four

An opportunity for three and four year old children to hear the Sunday Scripture presented on their level is offered during the 10:00 a.m and Noon Mass each Sunday.  The children are dismissed after the Opening Prayer of the Mass to go to the parish hall.  They rejoin their families at the Preparation of the Gifts.

Grades Pre K-5 Religious Education

The faith formation of the elementary child, grades K - 5 , takes place on Sunday morning between 10:00-11:40 a.m. followed by Mass at noon.  Classes are held in the former St. Francis Cathedral School at the corner of Paseo de Peralta and Alameda.  Parking available behind the school.

A formal faith formation opportunity designed for three and four year olds whose families are participating in the formal religious education classes and/or adult formation sessions is offered on Sunday mornings, 10:00 a.m.-11:40 a.m.  The program includes learning the Catholic ABC's, music and other religious activities along with a snack.

The summer catechetical program for children going into Pre-K through grade four is offered during two weeks in June during the morning hours.  This special summer program does not replace the classes offered during the regular school term.  The registration for the summer catechetical program is held in May of each year.

Adult Faith Formation

Families of children enrolled in the Sunday morning religious education classes are encouraged to participate in the adult formation sessions held on Sunday mornings, between 10:00 a.m. and 11:40 a.m.  All parishioners are welcome to participate in these sessions.  The sessions are held at the former St. Francis Cathedral School Building located at the corner of Paseo de Peralta and Alameda.  Parking available behind the school.

 Adult Enrichment Program

All programs are offered on Thursday evenings between 7:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. in Crispin Hall (parish hall).  All are welcome!
