WHAT WE DO

                                                                  CONSTANT CHERY

Constant is our Coordinator in Haiti.  He is the Director of the Beacon Ministries Orphanage Project, in partnership with his mother, Monique.  Constant's father, Nissouve Chery, is the Elder of the Moline church.  Constant provides us with monthly progress reports and weekly updates.  He also acts as our interpreter.  He can keep us in tune with the needs of his people and offer suggestions as to how to make our programs better.  The leadership of someone who is sensitive to his people is very important to us.

MOLINE

Many children have lost one or both of their parents and there is a great need for the orphanage. Monique Chery has a burden for the children and we have made a commitment to her project ,beginning in 2006.  The BEACON MINISTRIES ORPHANAGE PROJECT is an open air orphanage that provides for all needy children, whether they have living parents or not.  They have begun  a feeding program to provide one meal a day, three times a week, to 50 children.  We are hoping to quickly expand to  provide meals every day.  At present , there are approximately 350 children waiting for this program.

To date, we provide full time care for eight children in our orphanage

The BEACON MINISTRIES CHRISTIAN SCHOOL opened its door on September 1, 2008, providing a Christian curriculum to 35 first-graders.  Each September we will add another grade and another teacher until we provide grades one through six.

During our March 2007 trip, we purchased the first cow for the orphanage to begin their BEEF PROGRAM.  (Thank you to Nicholas for his generous "Christmas gift")

While we are in Moline,  we arrange a team of doctor and nurses and buy all the medicine they need to hold a MEDICAL CLINIC.  Everyone who is ill can come and see the doctor. We also provide food so that everyone can have a good meal. We are now providing funds and supplies for a permanent FIRSTAID /MEDICAL CENTER.

 O.P.K.P.

O.P.K.P. is an organization of countrymen that was formed to attempt to begin projects that
would benefit the community, in the areas of agriculture, industry and education.
The Co-op has 150 members and has been instrumental in establishing the
Peanut Butter Manufacturing plant.
We have joined with O.P.K.P. to try to help them realize thier dreams.
We provide the possibility with funding as we can, they provide
credibility for us in Haiti, as an established organization.
Together we can do much more than we could separately.

OBAS

Obas is a small fishing village built on the rock shoreline. Hurricanes and storms have flattened the front row of houses time after time, the fisherman are forced to go out farther and farther each day to catch enough fish.  Most villagers do not eat  every day.

THE OBAS CHURCH

When we first started going to Obas the church was just a foundation and had been that way for nearly eight years, there was never any extra money to buy cement to continue to build.

The church has been completed and the roof is on.
We saw the finished project on our March trip.

 ZEBGUININE

Pastor Alphonse and his family live in Zebguinine. The village is built on the side of a rock,  they are very poor and in need of everything.  We have provided funds to repair the cistern in this village and continue to raise funds to build a new one.

Pastor Alphonse describes himself as pastor, father, teacher.   He and his wife and six children lived in a small shack that was built 17 years ago by a mission team, to be used as a construction shed when they were building the village church. Alphonse and his wife moved in temporarily until they could get something better.    Alphonse also runs the school, but lack of funds causes it to be closed more than open.

We have raised the funds for a five room home for this family. We also have sponsors to provide some support for him each month and we're believing the Lord for more.

We can make a difference one family at a time.
