Keep Conversation Running Smoothly


 

  • The Challenge- Talking about HIV and AIDS can be difficult.  You may feel uncomfortable. If you are nervous or embarresed, don't be afraid to say so. Bringing your feelings out in the open can help to break tension.  Besides, a young person will sense your uneasyness even if you don't mention it.
  • REVIEW FACTS- You don't have to be an expert. But you should understand the basic facts so that you deliver the correct information. This guide will help you become familiar with the KEY facts. Talking with another adult first may help your comfort level.
  • STEP INTO THEIR SHOES- How  did you think?  The better you understand a young persons point of view, the more effectively YOU will communicate. Also, thinking of some important differences between our world today, and the world you grew up in can help to make your conversation more timely and relevant.        CONTINUED.............
